Why Beauty of Your Skin is Reflection of Your Good Habits

Your skin can be read, in many ways, as a barometer of your overall level of health. People, worldwide, spend billions of dollars every year on beauty products intended to improve the quality and appearance of their skin. Nonetheless, what many fail to realize is that the health of your skin is largely dependent on what is going on underneath it.

Skin, being the largest organ of the body, needs a number of different vitamins, minerals, a properly functioning immune system, to name a few, to function and look the way it is supposed to. A doctor can usually tell a great deal about your health just by looking at your skin.

The following section outlines a number of different skin problems that many people have, and the underlying conditions that may cause them, along with a few simple solutions that could help to alleviate the problem.

Paleness – anemia

Many believe that having a color complexion is the result of not receiving enough sun exposure. However, a colorless complexion could also be the result of a condition called anemia. This condition develops due to lack of iron in an individual’s diet, which play a fundamental role in the production of hemoglobin, the oxygen carrying component in red blood cells. A lack of red blood cells results in pale complexion. This problem can usually be fixed quite easily by eating greens, fruits, vegetables rich in iron and/or taking iron supplement.

Acne

While most individuals suffer an acne outbreak every once in a while, prolonged acne outbreaks accompanied by weight gain, prolonged periods, and excess facial hair could be caused by a more serious condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). The syndrome leads to excess production of sexual hormones. This causes acne by increasing the production of cortisal and increasing the activity of sweat and oil glands throughout the body. When you suspect you may be suffering from PCOS, contact your gynecologist and set up an appointment. The acne can usually be treated by using a strong cleanser to clear away oil, unclog pours, and remove dead skin cells.

  1. Well said. The glow of the skin shows not only the health but also the mental stability of a person. Yoga is the best which can balance both the mental and physical health. The pranayama exercises can improve the heamoglobin level and bring a glow in the face.

    try it out.
